Share Your Faith
Psalm 40:9-10 says, “I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my life, Lord, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness I my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.”
You are called to share your faith by the way you live as well as through your words. In Psalm 40 we see how King David, blessed by God’s involvement in his life, was a strong witness through his words of God’s character and actions. This is what it is to be a witness. Sharing how you are experiencing God’s love. Talk about how God helps you get through the challenging times of life. Expressing the blessings God’s pour upon you. Letting people know how as a Christ-follower Christ has transformed your life and given you purpose. Being a witness is about opening up about God’s goodness and power.
One error you can make, that might keep you from sharing your faith with someone, is to make a judgment on their life. Jonah made this error. God called him to preach to the Ninevites, but he saw them as a wicked and sinful people (which they were), but he let his feelings towards them keep him from sharing the truth of God with them. This caused him to run away from his call. In the end though Jonah was faithful, he preached to them to confess their sin, turn from their sin, and believe. And the people believed! Look for “divine appointments” to share the gospel with people. Seek to be a part of the plan God has for this world to restore people to Himself by being the witness He calls you to be.
Pray this prayer: Lord, help me to be a faithful witness by my words and actions. Help me to be a witness by sharing what You are doing in and through my life. Amen.
What is God doing in your life that you can use to share to others and be a witness for Christ? How can judging others keep you from being a witness? How aware are you of the opportunities God gives you to share? May the power of Christ be with you.
