Living A Better Life
So many people just settle for what they have and where there are. They just try and get through each day only to wake up the next day and do it again. It can feel like an endless cycle with not much purpose or joy. They get caught up in the busyness and responsibility of life. In a 2018 survey, 60% of U.S. adults said they at least sometimes felt too busy to enjoy life. This busyness causes them to feel like they are missing out on things they would really like to do with their life.
In the New Testament of the Bible, in Ephesians 2:10 it says: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Another way to say it is that we are God’s masterpiece. Have you ever thought of yourself as a masterpiece? If you did, would that change how you lived? Would that change the goals you might set for yourself? God created you. You are God’s masterpiece. God has wonderful and good things for you to do with your life.
I realize that you might not feel like a masterpiece today. You may be feeling like something far less than this. Perhaps you had a hard time getting out of bed this morning to face a new day. Perhaps your body is aging and you’re struggling to do things you once did without a second thought. Maybe you are mentally dealing with the toll that life can have on you. The answer is that your status as a masterpiece is true, not because of how healthy you are, how accomplished you are, or how moral you are. You are a masterpiece because of what God has done in your life by his grace. You have been newly and wonderfully re-created through Christ, so that you might live in relationship with God and for his glory, and do the good things He has for you to do in this world. With this perspective you will have the mindset to want to live a better life, and God’s power within you to accomplish it!
